Graham studied law at the University of Edinburgh before moving to Dumfries and Galloway with his wife, a native of the region, where he qualified as a Solicitor with a local firm. After qualifying, he worked for a number of years with a large Edinburgh firm, in their Land Resources (rural law) Department, before winning an academic Scholarship to undertake a PhD at the University of Glasgow.
Upon nearing completion of his academic work, Graham has returned to Dumfries and Galloway full time, having spent several years working and studying in the countries of the former Soviet Union as part of his PhD, and now prefers the rather more challenging prospect of bringing up his two, rather lively children! Throughout his time at the University of Glasgow, Graham remained active in and committed to the region and remains a board member of a large, local charity, and a member of many of the Stewartry’s sports clubs (outdoor swimming and squash being particular favourites). During his studies, Graham also worked for a variety of legal and regulatory bodies, including: as a freelance case reviewer on the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission’s reporter panel; as a researcher for the Scottish Government; and as a legal researcher and consultant for a number of international and national legal human rights charities. At Williamson and Henry, Graham works mainly on residential property transactions and general chamber practice (Wills, Executries and so on), though retains an interest in general rural law.
Graham currently lives in Dalbeattie with his wife and two children of four and one. Outside of work and when not exploring the coasts or forests of Galloway with the children, Graham enjoys playing squash, running and (strictly in the summer only) spending the odd evening swimming in Loch Ken and taking part in open water swim events around the country. Graham does not bake!
