After graduating from Nottingham University, Ian carried out research for a Judge in Oklahoma, USA. He then went to New Zealand where he was employed as a paralegal in a firm in Wellington, before returning to the UK to complete his training. Ian was admitted as a Solicitor in England in 1990 and practiced, mainly as a Court Practitioner, in Sheffield until 1995. Having been born and raised in Scotland, and with a desire to move towards general practice in a smaller town, he then requalified as a Scottish Solicitor.
He then joined Williamson and Henry in 1998, and considers himself fortunate to have found a well-regarded local firm as soon as he moved back to Scotland. Since becoming a Partner in 2003, Ian has continued to deal with a wide variety of legal work, and also enjoys providing the Estate Agency services which are an integral part of Williamson and Henry’s practice.
Ian is a keen road cyclist, and also enjoys a wide variety of other outdoor pursuits including sailing, tennis, and hill walking.
