No one likes to think about their own mortality, it’s inevitable and that’s why it’s important to plan for the future as early as possible to make your affairs as easy to deal with on death as possible. Doing so needn’t be stressful, complex or time consuming.

At Williamson and Henry, our team of Solicitors have the knowledge and experience to help make sure that your affairs are in order and your loved ones taken care of should problems arise.

Wills

Williamson and Henry advise on drafting Wills, and can also advise on aspects such as intestate estates (where someone dies without a Will), succession, legal rights and basic Inheritance Tax advice.

EXECUTRIES

Losing a loved one and dealing with an estate can be a difficult time. Williamson and Henry can assist in the administration of estates both where the deceased has left a Will (Testate estates) and where a deceased has died without a Will (Intestate estates). We can advise on the need (or otherwise) for Confirmation (the Scottish equivalent of Probate), the appointment of Executors (if needed) as well as dealing with the ingathering and distribution of estates and payment of any Inheritance Tax due.

Power of Attorney

With the complexities of the modern world, and with institutes being much more security conscious, it is becoming increasingly more important for individuals to have a Power of Attorney in place to ensure that their assets and affairs can be dealt with if they lose capacity.

It can be easy to wrongly assume that this is a document we only need in later life but incapacity is something that can affect individuals at various stages of their lives whether it be through illness or some kind of unexpected incident such as an accident. We can guide you through the process of deciding whether a Power of Attorney is right for you, discussing the options and take your instruction on granted the a Power of Attorney as required.

If you need advice regarding a Will, Executries or Power of Attorney, we can help.

We are flexible and happy to meet you at a time and location convenient to you and your family and have offices in Kirkcudbright, Gatehouse of Fleet and New Galloway. Click here or call us now on 01557 330 692.
